For players seeking the ultimate in iron technology, TaylorMade Golf has introduced the latest addition to its rac iron family, the rac CGB, which offers premium performance at a premium price. The rac CGB, which stands for "Center of Gravity Back," features a low and deep center of gravity that helps make possible a remarkable combination of distance, control and forgiveness.

Element One
Number one, Pull-Face construction, featuring a clubface fashioned of high-strength C455-stainless steel and milled on both sides that's created separately from the clubhead. Making the clubface separately allows for the face to be exceptionally thin yet strong. TaylorMade engineers took the 13 grams saved by this thin clubface and positioned it back and low in the clubhead.
Element Two
Number two, the rac CGB incorporates a patent-pending hollow top-line across the top of the clubhead from the hosel to the toe, creating a deep hollow cavity that allows TaylorMade engineers to save 13 grams from the top of the clubhead, which is redistributed strategically to help shift the center of gravity back and low.
Element Three
Number three, the rac CGB's Performance Cartridge, comprised of tungsten-loaded, high-density urethane and five metal inset rods precisely positioned to centralize weight in the clubhead; concentrating mass behind the hitting area to promote power. Simultaneously, the CGB’s Performance Cartridge further contributes to the deep-back CG position, which is what makes the rac CGB so easy to launch.
Element Four
Number four, TaylorMade's renowned rac Technology, distinguished by two Feel Pockets, milled directly into the cavity, that help to channel impact energy to strategic areas of the clubhead, promoting outstanding feel. Because the rac CGB's face is extraordinarily thin, the Feel Pockets of the rac CGB vibrate more freely, further enhancing feel.
Element Five
Number five, TaylorMade's Ascending Mass graphite and steel shafts, in which the mass of each shaft increases as the length decreases. Ascending mass results in lighter-weight long-irons, promoting greater distance and control; while the slightly heavier mass in the short-irons delivers added feel that can help players to better execute scoring shots.

Rac CGB irons also feature an exceedingly large, deep back cavity and tall clubface, both of which contribute to an extremely high MOI, fueling excellent forgiveness. Although a taller clubface typically precipitates a high CG, TaylorMade engineers were still able to position the CG low and deep by virtue of the CGB's advanced design and technologies.

"The CGB represents a remarkable achievement in golf club technology," says Sean Toulon, Senior Vice President of Brand Management and Creation, TaylorMade-Maxfli, "and is a shining example of how TaylorMade's advanced capabilities in research, development, design and manufacturing have allowed us to create a club whose technologies and level of performance shouldn't be possible in a mass-market golf club." The manufacturer's suggested retail price for a set of rac CGB irons in 3-iron thru pitching wedge is US$1,250 / steel, US$1,500 / graphite. A rac CGB approach wedge and sand wedge are also available. .
