The Mizuno Product Development Team takes forgiveness to a new level with the MX-17. By using state of the art "Multi-Piece Wax Technology," a process that allows maximum design flexibility, the team was able to design the irons to be as forgiving as possible with an easy, high launch while maintaining solid feel and control. The MX-17™ irons feature an extremely wide pocket cavity in the long irons (3-6) that moves weight further down and away from the face for easy launch and improved playability. In the scoring irons (7-PW) the irons feature a deep cavity with solid power bar design that delivers solid feel with maximum control and accuracy.
"At Mizuno, we are constantly improving upon technology that enhances performance on the course," said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. "The Multi-Piece Wax Technology™ used in creating the MX-17 allowed us to accomplish goals, such as move the COG lower and deeper, and create a huge sweet area, that simply wouldn't be possible with other design technologies."
In addition to the pocket cavity, the MX-17™ utilizes extensive perimeter weighting forming a large sweet spot area for forgiveness on off-center shots. A super forgiving, extra wide sole adds mass to the bottom of the club, increases ease of launch, and delivers consistent striking ability from all types of lies. The MX-17 is double nickel chrome plated for an elegant appearance and durability and deep
U-grooves produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability in all conditions.
"The MX-17s will give golfers instant confidence from the moment they look down at the club at address," said Lyons. "With their thicker top line and extra wide, forgiving sole, you just know you're going to get the ball up in the air quickly and effortlessly. But not only are the MX-17s easy to hit, they are extremely forgiving on mis-hits. The MX-17 irons will not only improve your game, but also make the game more enjoyable."
The MX-17 will be offered with True Temper® Dynalite Gold® shafts standard in steel and Mizuno's Exsar Blue shafts standard in graphite. Also standard on the MX-17 will be the Golf Pride® Tour Velvet 58 Round grip. The suggested retail price for a set (3-PW) of MX-17 irons is $699.00 (steel) and $799.00 (graphite).
