- Large, head boasts a larger sweetspot and massive MOI for greater forgiveness on mis-hits.
- Larger, deeper hitting area above the CG makes the R580XD easy to launch.
- Improved Inverted Cone Technology provides a larger COR Zone that equals higher ball-speed delivered by a larger area of the clubface.
- New sole design optimizes CG placement, resulting in superior launch conditions.
The shaft:
- M.A.S.² 65 - A super lightweight 65-gram graphite shaft is tip-Firm and low-torque to promote a high launch angle and long carry.
- Super light overall weight - 300 grams - to promote high clubhead speed.
- Tour-proven Tuned Weight Cartridge allows TaylorMade engineers to precisely tune the clubhead for optimum feel and weight with any shaft.
What is XD? XD (Extra Distance) is a process and a formula wherein the performance elements of a metalwood are tweaked and tuned up, transforming the club into a more muscular, more forgiving, more powerful version of its former self. TaylorMade engineers took the R580 back to the lab, closed the door and executed the XD treatment, emerging with drivers that are bigger, better and longer.
Compared to the R580, the new R580XD features a bigger head size and a longer, deeper clubface, resulting in large MOI for greater forgiveness; a new soleplate design for deeper CG, resulting in improved launch conditions; and improved Inverted Cone Technology for an even larger COR Zone than before, increasing average ball speed.
The R580XD is engineered to be longer. And with their combination of larger size, increased MOI and enhanced Inverted Cone Technology, they're longer more often.
