Personal Teaching Philosophy Statement

Teaching Philosophy

To create a laid back, fun and pressure free atmosphere to learn the proper elements involved to make a repeatable golf swing.

To teach golf with a strong emphasis on a correct set-up.

To support my students to become their own best coaches.

To improve quality of practice time of my students.

To integrate the physical, technical, mental, emotional and social aspects of golf and life.

Approach

1.      Opening interview during initial lesson with new students.

  1. Assess commitment level of the student.
  2. Set both short term and long term goals.
  3. Give detailed description of proper grip and explain why it is so important to grip the club correctly.
  4. Demonstrate an athletic posture and explain its importance in the golf swing.
  5. Teach the golf swing in a manner that reduces tension and pressure by emphasizing working on solid fundamentals.
  6. Avoid focusing on the results; never get too excited over well struck shots or too down about bad shots.
  7. Use kinesthetic teaching aids to give students the feel of different parts of the golf swing.
  8. End each lesson with short shots and discuss importance of short game practice.
  9. Evaluate progress and set new goals for the future.
